Energy efficient and accessible

A modern, energy-efficient family home designed to balance comfort, functionality, and coastal living. The client wanted to incorporate some shipping containers alongside prefabricated straw walls for sustainability, while ensuring privacy from neighbors and accessibility for a disabled relative.

Large windows and carefully designed eaves capture the winter sun for warmth, while sun louvres block harsh summer light, allowing the home to enjoy the beach view without overheating. Additional features include underfloor hydronic heating and thoughtful spatial planning to create practical, livable spaces that are both comfortable and environmentally conscious.
